There are two reasons we watch the Oscars. One, for the awards and two, for the fashion of course. We, the viewers act as the fashion critics of what the stars wear, but really, who are we to judge their taste in fashion? Don’t ask, because thats just what we do! I was expecting some very colorful gowns to grace the red carpet because of the gorgeous weather out in L.A. and with spring approaching, but many went with very neutral, yet elegant gowns. So, who was on my best (and worst) dressed list?
Hathaway’s Prada gown got the “what are you wearing?” response from onlookers, which is not the response you want from someone who usually always looks smashing on the red carpet. The problem? The dress looked like a cheap, high school prom dress. This dress might have been “business in the front..party in the back”, according to Hathaway but I’d say it was way too pointy in the front and an awkward party in the back.
This Alexander McQueen gown completely washed Seyfried out. I would have rather seen her in black or more colorful dress to compliment her features.
Helen Hunt STUNNED viewers in her Oscars dress. When asked the ultimate “Who are you wearing?”, she proudly said “H&M”. Wait, H&M? Really? Yes, H&M. Not Valentino or Louis Vuitton, but H&M. Needless to say, this did NOT do anything for Helen Hunt, nor would it for any other star at the Oscars.
Helene Bonham Carter
Bonham-Carter sported this black and white Vivienne Westwood dress that suited her personality but not the red carpet. Her messy hair, along with the dress was a complete red carpet DISASTER.
Everyone was waiting to see Jennifer Lawrences’ look and boy, did she come through. She rocked the red carpet wearing a pale pink strapless Dior Haute Couture dress and accessorized with jewels by Chopard drop earrings and a simple, yet chic Roger Vivier clutch and a delicate strand of diamond beads by Chopard that she chose to sport backwards.
Chastain graced the red carpet in a very old Hollywood glam, original gown by Armani. Simple, yet, elegant, the neutral dress complimented her beautiful figure and her hair. The red lipstick also complimented her entire look.
Reese Witherspoon was in all Louis Vuitton. This form fitting blue gown also fit the old Hollywood glam look. Her hair (hello volume!) made her look red carpet worthy!
Naomi Watts killed the red carpet while she shimmered in silver, one-shouldered Armani Prive gown, Neil Lane jewels and Jimmy Choo sandals.
Charlize Theron rocked the peplum in a white Dior Haute Couture dress and Harry Winston jewels.
